    Measurement of the Young’s modulus
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to learn the relation between the stress and the strain as well as to determine the Young’s modulus of various metal rods.

    Circular motion and centripetal force
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to study the properties of uniform circular motion. We will study how the centripetal force depends on the mass, the speed, and the radius of revolution.

    Measurement of the rotational inertia
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to learn the meaning of the rotational inertia and the principle of conservation of mechanical energy. We will determine the rotational inertia of rigid bodies of various shapes.

    The Gyroscope
Purpose: The objective of this experiment is to learn the relationship between the angular momentum and the external torque by demonstrating the precession and nutation of the gyroscope under the action of the gravitational torque, and to investigate the relationships between precession period or nutation period and spin period.

    The Doppler effect
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to study the Doppler effect and to measure the speed of moving body.

    The Coupled Pendulums
Purpose: The objective of this experiment is to learn the characteristics of swing and to investigate the characteristic vibrations of the two identical gravity pendulums with coupling, e.g., the eigen-mode and eigen-frequency. The value of the gravitational acceleration g is derived from the data. In addition, this experiment provides an opportunity to understand the behavior of the coupled oscillators throughout the natural world.

Resonant standing waves(1)transverse resonant standing wave on a string

Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to observe the transverse resonant standing wave on a string and to determine the frequency of the tuning fork.

Resonant standing waves(2)longitudinal resonant standing sound wave in a column of air
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to study the longitudinal resonant standing sound wave in a column of air and to determine the speed of sound propagating in air.

    Measurement of the surface tensions
Purpose: The purpose of the experiment is to determine the surface tensions of various liquids.
